Hello, I'm Berlyn

An User Experience Designer based in Pune, India. I value human connection, accessibility, equity, growth and openness. I enjoy solving human problems through design.

My Story

I was born in Mumbai, grew up in Pune, Maharashtra India. I spent my childhood playing with my friends, exploring various places, and learning new things. As a girl, I was often encouraged to be creative, kind, and curious about the world around me. I enjoyed spending time with my family,  painting and discovering new hobbies. Looking back, I am grateful for the experiences that shaped me into the person I am today.

During my 10th summer break, I thought to upscaling my hobby of Photography, so joined a professional course. There I came to know about a stream of Applied Art / Fine Art. I jumped into it as art has been my passion, and wanted to do something unique in life than follow other friends. I took up this unique course of Applied Art after 10th Grade, and completed by Diploma in Applied Arts.  Here I got to learn sketching, live drawing, deep knowledge of colour theory and typography, apart from this I gained knowledge in advertising, illustration, education design, publishing and public welfare. A s student I won “Best student of the year” award in college for 2 consecutive years. Also participated in many art competition representing my college Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya — Pashan, Pune.

Later I decided to learn more about Applied Art, so I took up one year Bachelors in Fine Arts (BFA) a Bridge Course, from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University – Aurangabad. Here I learnt more about communication design and as a student I won 1st Prize in Poster making competition on “Right to Vote”, organized by Election Commission of India, this was a District Level Competition. Another feather added to my hat was I stood 1st at the Regional level competition for Posters Design organized by Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, which was focusing on the awareness throughout the Pandemic – Covid 19. Finally I Graduated in Applied Art and stood 1st in that academic year. I was handpicked by a design studio in Pune – Creator3, during my annual art exhibition and was hired as a Junior Graphic Designer.

I had always been passionate about design and after my Bachelors I started my career as a graphic designer, working on a wide range of design projects, such as branding, print and digital media. However, I soon realized that I was more interested in designing for digital interfaces and creating meaningful experiences for users. I started attending workshop on UX Design, as this field was fascinating to me and decided to pursue my Masters Degree in UX Design from Ajeenkya DY Patil University in Pune.

The transition from Graphic Design to UX Design was challenging as I had to learn new skills and adopt new ways of working to produce a design. However, I found the transition rewarding and fulfilling as I was able to create designs that made a positive impact on peoples lives. Looking back I am grateful for the experience as a Graphic Designer, as it gave me a strong foundation in Design Principles and help me develop good aesthetic sense. I feel that my transition to UX Design has opened new opportunities that allows me to follow my passion of creating designs for the betterment of the society.
